Join us on Saturday, November 7 at 9:00 am for a performative walk to Mission Creek:

The collaborative artist team of Speaking Tributaries uses the methodologies of conceptual and socially engaged art to critically examine human interaction with water sources in California. For our Mission Creek Walk, we have shifted our focus to Mission Creek, an essential part of San Francisco’s watershed located a short distance from CCA. This field trip will intertwine the histories and present of the creek, using it as a grounding place for a larger consideration of relationships to and interactions with natural water sources. Our walk will poetically trace the creek’s path into a hypothetical future, using music, storytelling, and collaborative reflection. In the 1850s, Mission Creek was navigable from the San Francisco Bay to the Mission Dolores, surrounded by wetlands. Today, most sections of the creek are culverted, and its path is invisible. This performance will speak to the creek in all its forms.
